After-School Programs

Alegria offers a variety of after-school programs. Our current offerings include:

Yoga (Ages 3-6)

Kids Yoga at Alegria Montessori is a fun, inspirational class for children ages 3-6. In this playful, imaginative series, we combine simple yoga poses with engaging songs, stories, and activities that exercise social, sensory, and motor skills while increasing flexibility. We encourage self expression and learn how to focus through breathing and relaxation techniques. This class is offered by Nava Yoga Studio. (navayogastudio.com)

Story Time Soccer (Ages 3-6)

Story Time Soccer is a fun, educational, age appropriate skill and fitness program for 2-6 year olds. Established in 2012 and in St Petersburg since 2013, our program is built on five core values: fun, discipline, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship!  For more information please contact Coach Matt at storytimesoccertampabay@yahoo.com.

After-School Art (Ages 3-6 & 6-12)

After-School Art students learn about the history of art and study past artists. We look at specific works by the artist of the month and discuss details and our observations. We then create projects related to the art concept.

Soccer (Ages 6-12)

ST Soccer Academy is a soccer program that creates teams for elementary and middle schools. Established in 2012 and in St Petersburg since 2013, our program is built on five core values: fun, discipline, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  For more information please contact Coach Matt at storytimesoccertampabay@yahoo.com.

STEM (Ages 6-9)

STEM is available after-school for students in first through third grade. The STEM curriculum we use is called Engineering is Elementary. Each unit has a different type of engineering focus, whether it is mechanical, electrical, biomedical, etc. The students work through a series of activities using the Engineering Design Process: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve (and sometimes Repeat). We solve problems such as creating an avalanche protection system, designing a stage for a music festival to maximize sound, and creating an art display to mimic the Northern Lights. The students work together to solve everyday problems just like engineers! We have a blast doing it, of course.

Battle of the Books (Grades 3- 5)

Battle of the Books is a reading group designed to make reading fun and engaging for the students. Everyone is very engaged with their books and enjoy their time discussing the amongst themselves. Once all the books have been read, students make and play games to study the material. This is all to prepare them for the big Battle of the Books that will take place in the coming months.
